  • I am not good enough at playing, I'm not sure if I'm welcome. "
    It does not matter. With open arms, we absolutely welcome you to join.
  • What if I don't want to play but still want to join?
    You can be a colour guard (carry a flag in parades), a baton majorette or flag majorette.
  • What are my financial obligations?
    You pay a nominal annual registration/membership fee of $40.00. A separate fee is charged for the cost of gala pants, ($100), marching shoes, ($40), and undershirt ($15).
  • What about band tours, how much do I pay?"
    Transportation costs for performance tours within Canada, Eastern and Midwest US are paid for by PHB. Meals on the road, sightseeing tours and driver tips are shouldered by member. Cost of performance tours outside Canada are raised through group fund raising initiatives and individual effort with assistance from PHB.
  • I am financially incapable, and wondering if I can get assistance?"
    Yes, of course. PHB will assess your situation and provide you the help you need. Being financially low should not be a deterrent for anyone from joining PHB.
  • What are your rehearsal schedules and where are they held?
    Main rehearsals are conducted every Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at PHB Centre located at Sugar Bush Park near the northeast corner of Thornhill Woods Drive and Highway 7 in Thornhill (Vaughan). Special weekday rehearsals may be scheduled for special events, which is rare.
  • How old should I be to join?
    Minimum 10 years old. No maximum age limit provided that you are able to march.
  • Will I be in the band immediately upon joining?
    You will be evaluated first to see what help you need, if any, be it music or marching. Section leaders will help you go through the integration process in a smooth as possible way.
  • Where does the band perform and how often?
    PHB performs at parades in many communities in Southern Ontario and the United States. These are all held during weekends, and watched by thousands to millions of people. Besides marching, PHB also performs at half-time shows, concerts, ceremonial events, cultural events, occasional field shows, and private functions including TV shoots.
  • I'm excited, how do I join?"
    Click "JOIN" below, fill out Registration Form, print and bring it to PHB Centre between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 PM on a Sunday. Before doing so, send us an email with heading "Joining PHB" no less than 7 days in advance to make sure there is rehearsal that day. This will also enable our Human Resources to meet and welcome you and introduce you to the band. You may also come to PHB Centre and fill out a Registration Form there. If you are a minor, you must have one of your parents with you to fill out a Registration Form. As in the above paragraph, send us an email prior to coming. Bring your instrument. If you have none, we will lend you one just to get you started that day. We suggest that you rent or buy your own. We can assist you find a store to rent or buy your instrument. For those playing drums, cymbals, snares or sousaphone, we will furnish the instruments for your use free of charge. As a baton majorette, you will furnish your own baton. As a flag majorette or colour guard, we will furnish you flags, poles and slings, free of charge. Following your first rehearsal, we will sit down with you and your parent(s) and go through an orientation process to make you get acquainted with your new family and begin a new chapter in your life as a member of this exciting Philippine Heritage Band! That’s how easy it is to join!
